Terry Fisher

I've been at iLaw this week in Cambridge at the Harvard Law School. It's been really great and have had lots of opportunities to talk about the work that we'll soon be doing with Creative Commons in South Africa. Katie Dean quoted me in Wired News about Berkman Center Director, Terry Fisher's outline of an alternative compensation method for publishing on the Internet. I didn't say anything interesting, but Katie says it quite well in this article.

Image tags

I'm drawing today. Lots of fun designing the Creative Commons Africa site. And I have discovered one useful thing that Richard Stallman taught me. He had mentioned that the .png image file format was so much better than gifs for the Internet, but that people hadn't really caught onto the standard. So I tried it out. And it works really well! Try it.

The thing I love

I'm back in Palo Alto. And the best thing about being back in Palo Alto? The speed of the Internet. It's incredible. I'm overwhelmed. I feel like crying with joy. No longer do I have to think carefully about how useful it would be to go to a certain website, and whether that usefulness will outweigh the frustration of having to wait 10 minutes for each page to download, while the phone charges mount steadily and rapidly.

I think this makes up for the jetlag that has had me flat on my back for the past 2 days. Any cures for jetlag out there are most welcome.
